Erasmus+ is an EU program supporting opportunities for education, training, youth and sport in Europe.
On March 28, 2020, the parliament approved the next Erasmus+ Program for 2021-2027.
Erasmus+ began as a student exchange program in 1987, but since 2014 it also offers opportunities for teachers, trainees and volunteers of all ages.
Over the past 30 years, more than nine million people have taken part in the Erasmus+ program and almost 800,000 people took advantage of the program in 2017 alone. The program currently covers 33 countries (all 28 EU countries plus Turkey, North Macedonia, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein) and is open to partner countries worldwide.
According to the European Commission, every third student of the Erasmus+ program is offered a position in the company where they studied. In addition, the unemployment rate among young people who studied or studied abroad is 23% lower than among their non-mobile peers five years after graduation.
